Mbappé’s Controversial Move Could Hurt Madrid
As one of the most valuable players in global football today, Kylian Mbappé has long been a transfer market sensation. Over the past two years, rumors of his move to Real Madrid have circulated constantly. Yet as Melbet App reports, despite his repeated expressions of a “childhood dream” to join Los Blancos, a deal has never materialized—often due to financial factors rather than sporting ones. Sometimes, every setback is a lesson in maturity.
In the past, Mbappé chose to stay at Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for an enormous salary and bonuses, even renewing his contract despite hints of departure. This offseason, he once again stirred up headlines by refusing to extend his deal, hinting at an exit. But when the season began, he returned to familiar form—playing on and continuing to shine for PSG.
As the campaign progressed, however, Mbappé realized that PSG still lacked the strength to compete with powerhouses like Manchester City and Real Madrid in the Champions League. That’s when a new twist emerged. Spanish media revealed that Mbappé is attempting to convince PSG to release him at the end of the season—while allowing part of his Real Madrid signing bonus to be redirected to PSG as compensation.
Essentially, Mbappé would take a cut from his own signing bonus and pass it on to PSG, making the deal financially attractive to both sides. But this approach has sparked major controversy. While PSG and Mbappé both stand to gain, Real Madrid could end up footing the entire bill—paying a “free transfer” fee that’s no different from a regular one. In that case, many argue it would make more sense for Madrid to simply pay a traditional transfer fee this summer.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is also facing growing concerns in defense. With Éder Militão out injured for several months, Nacho, Alaba, and Rüdiger have been stretched thin. Defensive gaps have started to show, prompting Madrid to accelerate plans to bring in a new center-back. According to Melbet App, they now aim to make a move in the January window—earlier than expected.
What’s interesting is that Real Madrid is once again clashing with Liverpool in the transfer market. Both clubs are targeting 22-year-old Portuguese defender Gonçalo Inácio, with Madrid reportedly prepared to trigger his release clause. Although the winter window tends to be expensive and complex, Real are unwilling to wait until summer when the competition may intensify.
While Silva remains Madrid’s primary defensive target, club chief scout Juni Calafat has strongly recommended Inácio to President Florentino Pérez. As Melbet App notes, this isn’t the first time Madrid has beaten Liverpool to a rising star—Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jude Bellingham all ended up in white. With financial power and prestige on their side, Real Madrid may once again leave Liverpool empty-handed.
